Urban Lights investigates interactions and interventions between people and buildings. Urban areas are normally dark and dead during night times.
Our project makes it come to life using projected light controlled by smartphones. Anyone passing by can easily connect and participate using their mobile phones to control a light beam projected onto a building or environment (park/trees/benches/etc).
Participants simply have to wave their phones, using the built-in accelerometer that registers their movements. The light beam will follow the movements and when passing over a window (or object), the window will light up in different variations and site-specific effects.
The project will be open for the public to participate in designated spaces around Oslo, TBA.
