Nor-shipping - Oslo 2013
The Ulstein Bridge Vision operator’s desk at Norshipping June 2013 is designed as a demonstrator unit for the interaction scenarios to be shown at the venue. The main focus of the installation is to contribute to the overall ambition of presenting the most user oriented interaction possible by rethinking the organization of information and control for the content and systems on advanced offshore vessels in order to improve life at sea thus contributing to safety and efficiency.
Building for exhibition: The Nor-Shipping installation represent a joint effort from a multidisciplinary team. There are four major work modules carried out in the work. Industrial design and production of the console and installation context. Electronic engineering of all physical interfaces including advanced mechanical engineering for physical interfaces. New modular front end design and comprehensive backend development allowing combination of a vast range of interaction methods and information presentation. Advanced sound hardware and software including a completely redesigned sound scape for marine operations. Each of the presented elements represent a feat in itself, however integrating it all into a single fully working unit is a engineering and design triumph.
